The fur on their tail is sensitive to the change in winds, useful for indicating where to sniff around for prey.BIRTHPLACE: Born in a hidden village, high atop a Doman mountain's peaks.PERSONALITY: Kaneko is- by nature- curious, fascinated by the wonders beyond the forests. She is a kind and generous soul, albeit naïve. Kaneko is the playful type, always looking for fun, whether it be pushing someone's buttons, or running around with children.
Centuries ago, a Miqo'te adventurer from the west took to exploring distant lands. His travels brought him to Hingashi, where he ventured into the mountainous regions. Though, getting lost, he found himself alone. Attacked by wild creatures whilst staving off hunger, he thought he was at his end, when a towering fox, shining a beautifully radiant golden glow, saved him from this fate. The fox auspice nursed the explorer back to health, and in exchange, he shared tales of his travels, entertaining the majestic being. The man chose to stay with the auspice who, after a time, adopted a humanoid form, wanting to consolidate the bond they had nurtured. The man would then gift her with a befitting name, 'Tenko' meaning Heavenly Fox, attributed to the Auspice's appearance. Tenko's name persists throughout history, as she watches over her children and their descendants. The name and homeland of her lover, however, was lost to time.A small handful of legends depict a hidden village far atop one of Doma's mountains. Within this village, live the children of a powerful auspice. The children are said to take on the form of man, decorated with beautiful golden hair, tall fox-like ears, and a tail as soft as clouds. It is told that these children possess special skills, blessings granted by Tenko, herself. None have been able to find their village, though every so often, some of their kind are said to emerge from their isolation.
For many years, Tenko's descendants remained mostly isolated in their village, only venturing beyond to find wives and husbands from nearby Hingan settlements in order to preserve their numbers. Despite being of mixed blood, future generations retained their golden fur and fox-like features. With the Hingan influence growing within their clan, they soon took up Hingan-derived family names, our protagonist's own ancestors settling upon 'Fukumoto' translating to 'Blessed Origin,' paying tribute to Tenko. With the clan growing larger, the Kogitsune would begin to adopt new customs and traditions shared amongst the people of Hingashi and certain parts of Othard, selecting a female of their clan to serve as a matriarch, guiding and protecting their village and becoming a full-fledged clan. As with all villages and societies, the younger generations became bolder and adventurous, setting out on journeys to explore the world, only a few either staying behind or eventually returning home with families of their own.While finding lovers among the Hingan population served to maintain their numbers, Tenko and the Clan Matriarch allowed the younger generations to indulge in their urge to explore, serving as a way to prevent over-population, as a balance must be kept to maintain the clan's sustainability.
Kaneko was born to the current family Matriarch, Kaede Fukumoto, as the younger of two sisters. While her elder sister was more disciplined, Kaneko was always the more curious and energetic type. She would play pranks on the retainers, go out into the forest and play amongst the trees, and get herself into all kinds of trouble. Yet despite her mischief, the young Fox was adored by her family, and treated no differently, save for the constant lectures from her father. When she wasn't running around, leaving mayhem in her wake, she often visited Tenko with her mother, learning much about their storied past, and how they came to be. Among the many stories, one regrettably forgotten fragment was the name of Tenko's lover, an air of sadness whenever the question was posed. Kaneko resolved herself to discovering the name, planning to set out on a journey when she was old enough.Filled with conviction, Kaneko trained for many years under her Uncle, whom had served as a shinobi for another clan before coming to the village. He taught her many survival techniques, and bestowed upon her the harsh trainings involved with learning ninjitsu. The training was long and arduous, every day being a constant struggle. Despite wanting to quit every passing day, Kaneko continued to remind herself why she was training in the first place. This would carry on until the fated day she finally comes of age and sets out on her own, finding herself now lending a hand to a secretive and honorable clan.
Like the rest of her kin, Kaneko possesses bright golden hair, dipped in white. Her ears stand tall, and her tail is well groomed and poofy. Her skin is naturally tanned, a trait inherited from the clan's patron. Kaneko's skin is silky smooth, nary a scratch nor wrinkle, pairing with a soft and well-endowed physique, she is certainly a sight to behold. She is often seen wearing some form of eastern garb, only occasionally wearing the local attire of the region she's in.
Disclosure: This is my first character like this. Involving folk lore isn't something I tend to do and I wanted to experiment. I hope you enjoy the character, I'm taking great care in how she develops and fits within the lore.I am also looking for folks who are interested in far eastern RP and want a clan to join. I'm working on starting up an FC and I plan to have various roles for people to choose from, such as high ranking nobility, samurai, ninjas, retainers, house keepers, freelance adventurers, etc. There's something for everybody, whether they want to play a hero or a more humble role.I am open to dark themes, but won't go beyond FFXIV's level of dark. I enjoy all sorts of different RPs, but no ERP unless it's reasonably justified. I'm not against spur of the moment "quick RPs" but anything emotional (or romantic) has to have a dedicated RP leading up to it.
